Pressing On

I was blown away by the film I’m Not There. Todd Haynes’ unusual tribute to the many facets of Bob Dylan. Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Ben Whishaw and the late Heath Ledger each embody part of the legend that is Bob Dylan: from Greenwich village folk troubadour to electric guitar trailblazer to born again preacher- the whole movie hung together with the narrative of Dylan’s unforgettable music.  One of my favourite sequences from the film is when the Dylan character turns his back on fame to become a small town church preacher and gospel singer. Are you standing still in your faith or pressing on and maybe humming Bob Dylan along the way?

Watch and enjoy. For more on the film see

My dad was a massive Dylan fan when I grew up (still is) so the Saved album was constantly on in the house and the car. Great passionate gospel music from a true original, and I think he still sings songs from those days.
