Jesus’ blood never failed me yet

I first came across this remarkable piece of music about 10 years ago and it never fails to move me to tears. It was composed by Gavin Bryars with vocals from Tom Waits and with an orchestra conducted so well by Michael Riesman. The only words that you will hear spoken/sung originate from an old homeless man based around Waterloo/Elephant & Castle in London who was recorded by Alan Power in 1971. Bryars was given the original tape and set it to a simple piano and choral accompaniment. What you hear in this excerpt is just one part of  a piece that lasts for around 74 mins- it is one of the most hauntingly powerful pieces of music I have ever heard.
